Will it fall off my window?
Not if you use it as designed. Two systems hold it in place. An anti-fall safety rope anchors the unit to a fixed point indoors, and an internal backup battery keeps the suction running if the power is interrupted, so it holds its grip until you can lift it off. Clip the rope on before you start, every time, on every window.
Does it need to stay plugged in?
Yes. Glass Glider™ runs on mains power through a 4.5m cable and stays plugged in while it works. The internal battery is a safety backup that holds suction during a power cut, not a way to run it cordlessly. We would rather be straight with you about that now.
Can it really clean the outside of upstairs windows?
Yes, and it is the main reason people buy one. You place it on the outside face of the pane from inside the open window, clip the safety rope on, and it cleans the outer surface while you stay indoors. No ladder, no leaning out.
How long does one window take?
Around three to five minutes for a typical pane, depending on its size and how dirty it is. It beeps when it has finished and returns to where it started, so you know it has covered the whole surface.
Will it leave streaks?
Twin pads spinning at 50N pressure lift dirt rather than pushing it around, which is where streaks usually come from. For the best finish, mist the pads before you start and use clean, dry pads on the final pass.
Will it work on my windows?
It works on flat, smooth panes larger than roughly 40 × 40cm, framed or frameless, inside and out. It is not suitable for leaded, stained or heavily textured glass, or for curved and bevelled panes, because it needs a smooth surface to hold suction and travel across. You will also need a power socket within reach of the 4.5m cable.
Can I use it on anything besides windows?
Definitely. Shower screens, bathroom tiles, full-length mirrors, marble splashbacks and glass balustrades all work, as long as the surface is smooth and sealed. It will reach the top corners of a shower screen you have been scrubbing on your knees.
Do I have to fill it with water?
No, there is no tank to fill. You give the microfibre pads a few sprays of water before you start, and a light spray again if a window is particularly grubby. The pads are washable, so rinse them under the tap and let them dry.
